EXT. SEASHORE – RAINY DAY
From a fixed perspective, looking downward, we watch the tide wash up around a large, jagged stone half-sunken into a sandy beach. None of the surrounding environment is visible; we can only see the stone, the sand, and the tide. This will be the case throughout the movie.
For a several minutes, we simply watch the water come up and recede over the sand. The stone, embedded and eroded as it is, looks slightly like a mountain.
Eventually, we hear a MAN's voice. He sounds rather far away, but getting closer.
MAN (voice raised to be heard over the surf, drizzling rain, etc.)
What are you doing there?
Another voice, this one from close behind the camera. This is the FILMMAKER. Their gender is irrelevant, but they sound younger than the MAN.
FILMMAKER
Just some shooting.
MAN (close enough to speak normally)
Shooting?
FILMMAKER
For a movie I’m going to make. I’m just getting some B-roll.
MAN
A movie?
FILMMAKER
Yeah.
MAN
You’re shooting a movie, right now?
FILMMAKER
Yeah, I guess so.
MAN
You don’t sound too sure.
FILMMAKER
Well, I probably have all I need. If I’m on your property or something I could–
MAN
No. This is nobody’s property. Nobody’s land. I’m just here, the same as you. Tell me what your movie is about.
